Why choose zero waste toothpaste brands?
There are various reasons why we should consider switching to more zero-waste alternatives regarding toothpaste brands.
The tubes themselves are made using non-recyclable materials such as aluminum, steel, and other forms of plastic. Additionally, as we quoted above, billions of toothpaste tubes and toothbrushes are sitting on our landfills and littering our waterways. This is why it’s a good idea to switch to a more sustainable alternative – like toothpaste that’s stored in a glass or steel jar.
On top of that, plenty of commercial brands of toothpaste use ingredients that aren’t that great for our overall health. Components such as sodium lauryl sulfate and carrageenan are commonly found in traditional brands and cause more harm than good.
There is also an ongoing debate concerning fluoride; while it positively impacts our dental health, it isn’t that great for the environment. Plus, there are healthier alternatives that aren’t as damaging such as Xylitol.
